Active School

Our school is proud to be associated with the active school flag initaitive for many years. We prode ourselves in promoting physical exercise and movement throughout the school day. We really enjoyed Relay Take over Day on September 27th 2024.

 

Cuman Na mBunscoil

We have a long and proud tradition of working with Cumann na mBunscoil to promote football, hurling and camogie in our school.  The football season has just kicked off and we have a boys and girls football team taking part in the league. We are delighted to have a wonderful coach from South Liberties working with various classes throughout the school for 5 weeks.

 

Thomas Barr

What a session we had with Thomas Barr when he came to our school as part of the Dare to Dream initiative.

 

Primary School Basketball

Basketball is a hugely popular sport with our pupils.  We are fortunate to have wonderful facilities  and it is a very popular lunchtime activity. Our senior pupils enjoy competing in the Limerick league and in friendly tournaments throughout the year.

 

Primary Schools Athletics

The pupils look forward to  the Primary Schools' athletics finals each May. The athletics final involve sprints, diatances up tp 400m, long jump and relays. The emphasis is on team work and the children work collectively to win a tropy for their school.

 

Cycle Safety Training

Our sixth class pupils are  put through their paces over a six week course in safe cycling in November / December each year. The training course is delivered by two qualified training instructors.The initiative is funded by the green schools initiative, Limerick County Council and  parents. During the course  the school  yard is transformed into roadways and junctions where the pupils learn vital safety skills.

Limerick Sports Partnership

Our school supports initiatives organised by Limerick School Partnership. We are looking forward to using  the resources developed by LSP to enhance and encourage the learning of fundamental movement skills.

South Liberties GAA Club

South Liberties GAA club is our local GAA club. The club is very accommodating in providing facilities to the school for walks, football and hurling matches. The school supports the club by passing on information to the pupils about family fun days and training sessions for football and hurling for kids.

Munster Rugby October 2024

Pupils from 3rd to 6th enjoyed Munster coach Kenneth's visits. Kenneth plans some really fun activities with the pupils.
