Our School
Scoil An Spioraid Naoimh is a mixed school from juniors to sixth with a number of split classes. We strive to create an environment where all pupils are treated with dignity and respect. Our school crest contains the emblems of a book signifying learning and knowledge; a dove representing peace; tongues of fire symbolising strength; and the walls of Limerick which signify pride in our location. The words "Neart, Síocháin agus Foghlaim" (strength, peace and learning) appear beneath the symbols. Our school crest was designed by a former pupil Aidan Ahern while he was in sixth class. Aidan is currently working as a graphic designer.
School Uniform
The school uniform consists of grey pants or skirt and a jumper; blue shirt and a blue tie with a yellow stripe. Tracksuits can be worn on P.E. day consisting of navy pants, navy track suit top and t-shirt with the school crest. We also have a summer uniform consisting of navy tailored shorts, yellow t-shirt with the school crest and grey school jumper. The pupils are notified when summer uniform may be worn.

Shared Reading/ Lift Off Literacy/ Guided Reading/ Ready Set Go Maths/ Accelerated Reader.
Shared reading between pupil and parent is greatly encouraged in our school. We have a wealth of shared reading material in the junior and middle standard classroooms. It is a very worthwhile activity, the purpose of which is to provide children the opportunity to read in a relaxed and encouraging environment. Parents are encouraged to return any shared reading books that they might find lying around at home. Lift off Literacy is a feature in the junior classes and takes place as a six week block each year. Guided Reading is on going in the middle and senior classes. Ready, set, go maths is currently being undertaken with junior classes whereby the children work in small groups exploring maths with wonderful new concrete material.
Accelerated Reader has been introduced to encourage recreational reading from 3rd to 6th class. The library has been organised and stocked with a wonderful selection of reading material to meet our pupils needs. The pupils take regular comprehension tests to update their reading profiles.
Charity Work
The pupils of Scoil an Spioraid Naoimh are actively involved in activities to help those less fortunate. The Team Hope Christmas Shoebox Appeal is supported each year by our pupils. Each Christmas we collect a record number of shoe boxes.
An annual easter egg raffle is usually organised by sixth class pupils and generates a considerable sum of money which the pupils donate to a number of worthwhile local charites. The pupils raised an incredible amount this year. Thanks to all the pupils, parents and staff who donated Easter eggs. Our chosen charities for 2022 were Down Syndrome Limerick and Limerick Search and Rescue. In 2023 our school fundraising went to Crumlin's Childrens hospital and Saint Vincent de Paul. In 2024 the funds went to Medicine San Frontier, Dóchas and Crumlin children's hospital Well done to the whole school community who supported the raffle.
Our pupils respond to natural disasters abroad and closer to home with fundraising efforts on a regular basis.
In 2023 we had an odd socks day to raise awareness of Down Syndrone. Funds were raised on a voluntary basis and given to Down Syndrome Limerick.
